Fearless Faces: Painting Workshop

April 29th, 12-5pm

All instruction and supplies included

Open to all levels. Seasoned painters and first-time painters are wholeheartedly encouraged to join. If you're a beginner who has never painted or an experienced painter feeling creatively stuck and in need of a boost of fresh inspiration, this course is for you!

When I first started painting, faces and figures were the subject that scared me the most. However, with a lot of practice and some key lessons learned, they now come easily. In fact, it’s what I paint most often in my art journal for comfort. Faces tell stories like no other subject.

If painting faces seems scary to you, I want to demonstrate how to simplify the process. I will provide lessons to get you started and help subside those fears. We’ll paint perfectly imperfect abstract faces!

We’ll start with intention setting and art journaling prompts followed by several guided painting exercises. Included are tips for setting up your painting station, mark making, color and composition, techniques for building layers, and so much more.

Using a variety of tools, mediums, and palettes, we will create abstract faces through several guided exercises. All art supplies (all paint, tools, watercolor paper, and a canvas) are included. I will share abstract painting techniques and lay out steps to create richly layered paintings.

In the name of freedom and play, let’s paint abstract faces!

I invite you to spend an afternoon with me letting loose, slinging paint, and having fun. You’ll be gently guided and supported every step of the way.

Safer Space

I strive to create a safer space that promotes equity, open-mindedness, a willingness to learn from others, and affirmation of the unconditional value of all peoples. It is a space that is critical of the power structures that impact our everyday lives. I want us all to be free to grow, thrive, and express our individual identities.

I’ve never been to an art workshop before and I loved it! Becky has such a nice, warm, and welcoming presence about her and she sets up the atmosphere so any intimidation melts away.

Perfect. I met and spent time with wonderful people, in a beautiful space, where we were all supported to be as free and creative as we could allow ourselves to be. The whole experience was cathartic.
